Virtual Assistant Industry Statistics
The
Virtual Assistance Chamber of Commerce conducts an annual survey of the
Virtual Assistant profession. Our first survey was conducted during the
month of August 2006. Over 3,000 Virtual Assistants worldwide (primarily
from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia) were personally
invited to participate.
Our groundbreaking survey--comprised of nearly 100 multiple-choice and
three free-form questions--is the most in-depth, comprehensive and truly
representative cross-section taken of the Virtual Assistant industry to
date. It is the only one that is conducted solely by true Virtual Assistants
for Virtual Assistants.

Basic Virtual Assistant Industry statistics indicate:
- 85.82% of respondents view Virtual Assistance as their
chosen profession and primary vocation (as opposed to 14.18% who consider
it something they do "on the side").
- 89.24% of respondents define Virtual Assistance as the
profession of administrative experts who work in ongoing, collaborative
relationship with clients providing administrative service across-the-board
(as opposed to 10.76% who disagree with that position).
- 97.41% of Virtual Assistants are women.
- 76.06% are married.
- 34.2% are in the 40-49 age group (with 31.93% in the 30-39
age group, and 19.94% in the 50-59 age group).
- 68.56% of Virtual Assistants are based in the United States;
13.94% in Canada; 10.7% in the United Kingdom; 3.4% in Australia.
- 40.36% of Virtual Assistants have at least some college
level education with 24.64% having a 4-year degree and 15.56% a 2-year
degree.
