Surviving the Frenzy
The signs started to appear not long after Halloween. The
sights, sounds and smells were practically everywhere. With each passing
day it was becoming ever clearer – the Christmas holiday was fast
approaching.
Now that the holiday is just hours away, there's no better
time than now to share advice on managing stress because let's face it,
for many this time of year means even more stress.
Whether you celebrate the holidays or not, the crowds, pressure to buy
and anxiety that comes with this season is difficult to avoid. There's
good news though. It is possible to survive the holiday frenzy without
feeling frantic. These suggestions will help you to control your stress
levels during this hectic season:
1. Be realistic. Keep things in perspective
and avoid trying to please everyone.
2. Use moderation. Don't go overboard
with spending or entertaining. Decide how much you can afford to spend
and stick to your budget.
3. Exercise. Maintain your regular routine
of exercise (start one if you don't already exercise).
4. Take time for yourself. Make time
in your schedule to slow down and enjoy family, friends and yourself.
5. Manage the holiday hype. Invest in
the right help and don't try to go it alone. Connect with family, friends
or even your Virtual Assistant to help you get things done.
6. Use common sense. If you don't celebrate
the holidays, avoid unnecessary shopping in stores or malls where large
crowds are sure to be. Wait until everything is over (that's when the
best sales are anyway!).
May all of your labors bear fruit in the coming year!
