From the Editor

I'm sure you've heard the phrase before – analysis paralysis. We can
get so bogged down in details and making sure every little thing is
just so, that we often never accomplish what we set out to do in the
first place. Laura Lee Sparks is here this week with a simple phrase that can change your life.

To your success!

Breaking the Chain of Perfection Paralysis

Breaking ChainsAs every successful business owner knows, you are a marketer of your business on a daily basis. In order to successfully market, you must take consistent action.

But for some entrepreneurs, the forward action becomes halted due to perfectionism. They will struggle month after month with edits, research and revisions, trying to make sure everything is perfect before launching a new marketing campaign or product.

Stop it!

Alicia Forest, a good friend and mentor, has a saying that absolutely changed my business: "Done is better than perfect."

I am a perfectionist. I admit it. And it was stifling my business
development and growth. On my next project, I set a deadline. I worked, proofread, edited, and set my launch date. I could have edited again. I could have sent it for more opinions. I could have added more to it. I could have postponed the launch.

But I didn't. I kept my promise to myself, and launched the program. It was one of my most successful endeavors, and received rave reviews.

Could it have been better? Probably. Were there some glitches that I had to fix? You betcha. But I did it. And I learned that I love the feeling of accomplishment much more than I love the feeling of perfection. I learned things to do (and not to do) the next time. And I added many new clients and contacts to my network.

It is ok to make a few mistakes along the way. They are learning experiences. If you want to grow your business you must learn to say, "it's good enough." Embrace the feeling that comes with
accomplishing a goal and meeting a deadline.

Remember – there is always time for version two!
