The Peace of Release

Feet Up on DeskMy first client was a contractor who was so busy that he could never return phone calls or keep up with paperwork. His reputation for quality workmanship among his repeat customers and peers was impeccable, but he was failing miserably at securing new customers.

We met when I needed some work done at my home. As he was apologizing for not getting back to me for two months, he began to share his dilemma of trying to keep up with new and repeat business. He had just lost a big contract because he hadn't checked his messages for two and a half weeks.

I took the opportunity to tell him about Virtual Assistance, and how I could help him get back on track. He hired me on the spot, LOL! Since that day, this client has used me to help him develop great customer relations so that now his customers and potential customers get a return call within 24 hours, not two month. In my services as a Virtual Assistant, he found a great solution to a dreaded problem in his business... and all the other other stuff.

So many business owners follow this same pattern, trying to work through it all, but never accomplishing as much as they really need to get done. Michael Gerber, author of "The E-Myth Revisited," talks about how a good entrepreneur knows how to work on his or her business, and not always work in the business.

One of the ways to work on your business is to take an inventory of what you can begin to delegate. If it's all falling down around you, hiring a Virtual Assistant can be a great way to take some of the load off. You will find that releasing some of those small tasks you dread to a professional will liberate you with more time to focus and less time to stress.
